Hi there! I’m Laura Dankof, the founder of Path to Health and Healing. My mission is to provide holistic care information to empower you to take charge of your own health and transform your life. Health care today is a big corporate business that has lost its way. The art of healing has been lost in a mire of regulations and pharmaceutical influence. It is time to remember that health and healing is about addressing the whole person. This includes healing physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is not simply about taking a pill.
I have over 20 years experience working in health care. I am also a nurse practitioner, speaker, and author of “Seeds 4 Change: A Path to Health and Healing” and just released, “Gluten-Free Lifestyle: Your Guide to Gluten Freedom“.
As a holistic health nurse practitioner I am passionate about increasing your awareness and the conventional medical community’s awareness about the benefits of natural and functional medicine. It is because of this interest that I have received additional training in natural and functional medicine. I have had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at conferences and have spoken on topics related to complimentary and alternative medicine.
My journey began like so many other holistic health practitioners. I saw the shortcomings within the conventional health care model when it came to my own health and also that of my loved ones. This lead me on a journey to find answers as to WHY things happen, and HOW do we fix it. Don’t you want to know why you have a hormone imbalance, depression, pain, or why you have developed various other diseases? Don’t you want to figure out how to improve your health, or better yet, prevent disease from happening in the first place? Conventional medicine is great at acute care, but is lacking when it comes to managing chronic disease. Taking a handful of pills to mange symptoms is not the answer. Getting to the “ROOT CAUSE” is the answer to solving the health care crisis.
I want to help you get to the root cause. Each of us is unique and therefore your health care needs are unique as well and need to individualized. To help you understand what may be right for you and to get my message out to more people, Path to Health and Healing was created. Because I can only see a limited number of people one-on-one, I am continually working on books and programs for you that you can access in the comfort of your own home.
My goal is to post a monthly blog on a specific health topic. I hope that you will find the information on my blog both educational and enlightening. I see so many people suffering and frustrated with the current health care system. The biggest complaints I hear from people are they feel they are not being heard, they want the why and not another pill, they want validation for their interest in using natural and less toxic treatments, and they want to be treated as a person and not a symptom or diagnosis. I am no different than you in that I care about family, community, and our environment. I never thought I would be sharing anything on such a public platform. That is how strongly I feel about helping you. As a child I was very shy and realized how not expressing my own authentic self was having an impact on how I felt physically and emotionally. Eventually while working as a nurse I got it and saw how this lack of self-expression was having a profound impact on the many patients I was caring for and their health and happiness. You need to be your own holistic health care advocate. Look at yourself and change your choices, actions, responses, and perceptions as to how you are going to participate in life.
Why do I care about this? Because these are the very things I have worked on in my own self and continue to work on. If you don’t first love and accept yourself, your ability to heal and share your authentic self with the world will be difficult. I have found that when people take the time to nurture the body and soul through self reflection, good nutrition, exercise and adequate sleep their personal transformation can be amazing. I have also seen how stress and emotional blocks can hold you back from your own health and happiness. Fear will leave you feeling stuck and literally means “frozen ego awaiting release”. It is time to step out of your ego and allow your spiritual essence to shine through. Loving who you are can help motivate you to find and stay on your own Path to Health and Healing.
